The season

Coming off the 2023 title and needing to replace star quarterback Kallen Gutridge, Adam Guenther's Wildcats opened 2024 at No. 1 in the OSAAtoday 5A preseason coaches poll. Mark Wiepert, an all-state receiver the year before, moved to quarterback and won his debut when the defense stopped a late two-point try by 6A Nelson in a 27-26 opener.

Wilsonville started 3-0 before 6A Lakeridge beat them 34-9 on Sept. 27, which ended a 13-game winning streak. The only other loss came at Silverton, 45-27, in Special District 2 play. The Wildcats finished the regular season 7-2 (4-1 in league) and entered the playoffs as the No. 5 seed.

In the playoffs Wilsonville beat Bend 63-34 and Churchill 34-6, then edged top-seeded Silverton 32-29 in a semifinal at McMinnville, sealed by a goal-line stand and a fourth-down sack in the final minute. A week later at Hillsboro Stadium the Wildcats beat previously unbeaten Mountain View 56-35 for their second straight 5A title and third straight appearance in the final. Wiepert accounted for 477 yards and eight touchdowns in the final, which OSAAtoday reported as the most touchdowns by one player in an Oregon 11-man championship game.

Wiepert finished the season with 3,805 passing yards and 51 touchdown passes plus 700 rushing yards and 12 rushing scores. Senior receiver Nick Crowley caught 80 passes for 1,515 yards and 26 touchdowns. Guenther was named the 5A Coach of the Year.
